THE NEW ORLEANS WRITING MARATHON

Jumpstart your writing endeavors with the New Orleans Writing Marathon! Marathon founder and author of The Writing Marathon: In Good Company Revealed Richard Louth will facilitate the event, with participants writing their way across the French Quarter. Writers will visit cafes, pubs, bookstores, and anywhere else a small group of writers can sit, write, and share their work. It’s all about writing in the moment, writing for the joy of it, and finding inspiration in one’s place.

On Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings, writers are invited to gather at 9 AM for a 30-minute overview of the Writing Marathon process, a map of great French Quarter writing spots, and guidelines. They will write together as a community before setting out in smaller groups to write and enjoy the city’s food, spirits, and atmosphere. Participants write on anything that they want and in any form they wish—memoir, fiction, reflection, essay, poetry, or just quick descriptive impressions—and share their writing with each other without criticism. For more information, please see: www.writingmarathon.com.

Full Writing Marathon Schedule: Writers may participate any day—Thursday, Saturday, and/or Sunday—by meeting in the Hotel Monteleone’s Queen Anne Ballroom at 9 a.m. for a brief introduction. Participants then write at various locations until noon (or past noon if they wish).

Writing Marathon Readings: Participants in any of the three Writing Marathons are invited to read their writing at a celebration on Sunday, March 26, at 2:30 p.m. in the Hotel Monteleone, Gallier Room.
