David W. Hoover

David W. Hoover chairs the Department of Film and Theatre at the University of New Orleans. For the Festival he has directed Alec Baldwin, Elizabeth Ashley, John Goodman, Stephanie Zimbalist, Eli Wallach, and Anne Jackson. His acting/directing work includes Le Petit Theatre du Vieux Carre, Tulane Summer Shakespeare Festival, Southern Rep, Tulane Summer Lyric, The Guthrie, Dallas Theatre Center, American Southwest Theatre Company, Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, and The Lyceum. He has received Big Easy, Marquee, and Storer Boone Awards, been an adjudicator in London, lectured at the Université Sorbonne, and taught extensively in Italy and Mexico. David received an Artist Fellowship award from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, the first award of its kind made to a director. David also received UNO’s coveted Career Achievement Award for Excellence in Research presented by the Alumni Association.
