Elizabeth Steeby

Dr. Elizabeth Steeby is an Associate Professor of English at the University of New Orleans. She is currently working on a book-length project, Neoplantation States: Desire, Design, and Protest in Jim Crow Empire, and has recently published articles on radical intimacy in the era of Jim Crow fascism, biopolitics and disaster management of the 1927 Mississippi River flood, snipers and the culture of American militarism, and the autobiographical narratives of political prisoners. She also co-organizes a creative writing and literacy program at the Orleans Parish Prison and is co-editing The People’s Guide to New Orleans, a social justice tour guide to the city.
