Adrienne Berard is the author of Water Tossing Boulders, her first full length book, and is a writer at the College of William and Mary. She is a graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism and recently served as the Writer-in-Residence at Delta State University. Her book was awarded the J. Anthony Lukas “Work in Progress” Award for narrative, social justice journalism. Berard began her career as a beat reporter for her hometown paper in Northampton, Massachusetts. Over the past decade, she has worked for national print, digital and television news outlets. Although she was raised in the Northeast, Berard comes from a 5 generations of Southern women. She and her husband, Jesse, live on a sheep farm in Norge, Virginia.
