Katy Reckdahl

Katy Reckdahl is a senior reporter at Verite News, the Black-run newsroom that started operations in mid-2022. Before joining Verite, she was a free-lance reporter, hired by local and national media outlets including the New Orleans Advocate/Times Pic, the New York Times, and Washington Post. She has received more than two-dozen first-place New Orleans Press Club awards, the James Aronson Award for social-justice reporting, a Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism, and three TV-documentary Emmy Awards. In 2020, she was a producer for The Atlantic’s acclaimed podcast, Floodlines.
