Annette J. Saddik

Annette J. Saddik is a Distinguished Professor of Theatre and Literature at the City University of New York and serves as a voter for the Lucille Lortel Awards. She specializes in 20th- and 21st-century drama and performance, particularly the work of Tennessee Williams, and has published four books. Her books include a collection of Williams’ previously unpublished late plays, The Traveling Companion and Other Plays, and Tennessee Williams and the Theatre of Excess: The Strange, The Crazed, The Queer, which contextualizes Williams’ plays through what she terms a “theatre of excess,” seeking liberation through grotesque exaggeration, chaos, and ambivalent laughter.
