Carolyn Nur Wistrand’s plays include Magdalena’s Crossing (2019 Jane Chambers Feminist Playwriting Honoree, Bilingual Center for the Arts, Teatro Bravo, Wordsmyth Theatre, Echo Theatre, Runner-Up Female Playwright of the Year, Bridge Initiatives, and the Negro Ensemble Company); She Danced With A Red Fish (2018 Winner of the Inkslinger National Playwriting Competition); Rising (Winner of the Mario Fratti-Fred Newman International Political Playwriting Award, Castillo Theatre); 9 Steps from St. Ann Street (New Perspectives Theatre); When Marie Took The Power (Savannah Black Heritage Festival); Watchwomen (Savannah State University); Second Coming (Love Creek Productions); Tahirih (365 Women a Year and International Baha’i Youth Conference); Dirt Bleeds (Arthur Seelen Theatre); and Ida B. ‘n the Lynching Tree (Dillard University and Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History). Her plays are published with Brooklyn Publishers, Africa World Press, One Act Play Depot, Coachella Review, Drama Notebook, and Carmel Publishers in Chandigarh,India. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild, International Center of Women Playwrights, a recipient of a MCACA/NEA Award and an NEH Fellowship in Classical Greek Drama.Carolyn is a Lecturer In The Dept. of Africana Studies, UM-Flint and an Assistant Professor of English at Dillard University in New Orleans.
