Jewelle Gomez

Jewelle Gomez (Cabo Verdean/Wampanoag/Ioway; she/her), is a novelist, poet, and playwright. Her eight books include the first Black lesbian vampire novel, THE GILDA STORIES. It was recently optioned by Cheryl Dunye (Lovecraft Country) for a TV mini-series. Her new collection of poetry is STILL WATER. Her plays, Waiting for Giovanni (about James Baldwin), and Leaving the Blues (about Alberta Hunter), were produced in San Francisco and in New York City. Unpacking in Ptown will premiere at New Conservatory Theatre in 2024.
