Doug MacCash

Doug MacCash was born in St. Louis. At 22 he moved to New Orleans to try his hand at painting, while bartending on the Riverboat President, a popular floating nightclub, to make ends meet. He later earned a master’s degree in fine art at Tulane and worked at the Historic New Orleans Collection and the Contemporary Arts Center. In 1999, he became a critic and reporter at the Times-Picayune newspaper, where he continues to chronicle the customs of Carnival, among other things.
