Henry I. Schvey
Henry Schvey is professor of Drama and Comparative Literature at Washington University in St. Louis, the university where Tennessee Williams studied during 1936-37. Prior to arriving at Washington University, he was Associate Professor of English at Leiden University in the Netherlands. There, he founded the Leiden English Speaking Theatre. He has published extensively on modern and contemporary American drama, including essays on Albee, O’Neill, Ibsen, Mamet, Shepard, and Miller. He has published widely on Tennessee Williams, including a forthcoming essay on Summer and Smoke in the Tennessee Williams Annual Review. His most recent book is Blue Song: St. Louis in the Life and Work of Tennessee Williams, published in 2021.
