John Michael DiResta
John Michael DiResta is a theater director, dramaturg, adapter, playwright, and Assistant Professor at Skidmore College. His work focuses on new play dramaturgy, site-responsive theater, community engagement, and queer liberation. He is particularly interested in the intersections between new work development and theater for social change and highlights in his work the importance of repositioning audience experience in new plays. John’s current projects focus on the development of consent-based, trauma-informed, anti-racist pedagogical and rehearsal practices. John Michael has directed at Steppenwolf, LaMama, New Dramatists, Atlantic Theater, MCC Theater, The Hangar Theater, The Dramatists Guild, and The Drama League.
