Alex Jennings

Alex Jennings’ writing has appeared in Current Affairs Magazine, podcastle.org, pseudopod.org, Strange Horizons, New Suns, Volumes 1 and 2, and is forthcoming in From a Certain Point of View, the Return of the Jedi 40th-Anniversary anthology. He is the Director of DreamFoundry’s Con or Bust Program and an instructor of Popular Fiction at the Stonecoast MFA program. He contributes a speculative poetry review column to the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction under the title “Chapter and Verse.” His debut novel, The Ballad of Perilous Graves was released by Orbit/Redhook last summer. Born in Germany, he trotted the globe until settling in New Orleans. Before the pandemic, he MCed a literary readings series called Dogfish. The Ballad of Perilous Graves has been short-listed for numerous awards and prizes including The Ernest J. Gaines Award, The Ray Bradbury Prize for Speculative Fiction, the Locus Award for Best Debut Novel, and the World Fantasy Award. He is the winner of the inaugural Imagination Unbound Fellowship at Under the Volcano in Tepoztlan, Mexico and the 2023 Compton Crook Prize from the Baltimore Science Fiction Society. Jennings is a graduate of the University of New Orleans.
