Brenda Murphy
Brenda Murphy is Distinguished Professor of English Emeritus at the University of Connecticut and past president of the American Theatre and Drama Society. Her scholarly work reflects her interest in placing American drama, theater, and performance in the broader context of American literature and culture. Among her books are The Theatre of Tennessee Williams (2014) and Tennessee Williams and Elia Kazan: A Collaboration in the Theatre (1992). Recently, she has focused on writing fiction, including When Light Breaks Through: A Salem Witch Trials Story (2023), Becoming Carlotta: A Biographical Novel (2018), and After the Voyage: An Irish American Story (2016).
